FAQ

Common questions

Is the Getac UX10-EX G2-R certified for Zone 1?

No. It is certified for Zone 2/22 only, so it can be used in Zone 2 but not in Zone 1.

Can the Getac UX10-EX G2-R be used in Zone 0?

No. It is not certified for Zone 0. Zone 0 needs equipment with protection level Ga, such as Ex ia intrinsic safety.

What type of explosion protection does the Getac UX10-EX G2-R use?

It is intrinsically safe: intrinsic safety (Ex ic) with inherently safe optical radiation (op is). Intrinsic safety limits the electrical and thermal energy in the device below the level that could ignite the surrounding atmosphere.

What does T4 mean for the Getac UX10-EX G2-R?

Its surface stays below 135 °C, so it is suitable for gases that only ignite above that temperature. Check the ignition temperature of the substances on your site.

Can you charge the Getac UX10-EX G2-R in a hazardous area?

No. The certificate only allows charging outside the hazardous area.

Which ports and accessories can be used with the Getac UX10-EX G2-R in the hazardous area?

All connection interfaces (USB, Thunderbolt, DC-in, docking connector, LAN, serial) must never be used in hazardous areas (certificate condition). Optional internal modules named in the certificate are covered as part of the certified tablet.

What operating system does the Getac UX10-EX G2-R run?

Windows 11 Pro. Windows 11 has no fixed end date: Microsoft supports each version for about two years, so it keeps getting security updates while it's kept on a current version.

Is the Getac UX10-EX G2-R still available?

No. Getac now lists the G5 generation in its place; it published no end-of-sale date.

How much does the Getac UX10-EX G2-R cost?

Prices for certified hazardous-area tablets depend on volume, configuration and region, so they are on request. Contact us for a price.

Notes on unconfirmed values

  1. Units built under Getac's earlier certificate are rated for dust group IIIB; later units are IIIC. Check the label on the device.
  2. Getac's certificate names the model with a 'c' suffix and doesn't name the generation. We matched it to this generation by its batteries, dust group and ambient range.
  3. Approximate: the maker doesn't publish a launch date. Based on the certificate date or the maker's announcement.
  4. The maker doesn't state the edition year.
