Rules for the hazardous area
- Ambient temperature (Ta)
- −10 °C to +50 °C
- Charging
- Outside the hazardous area only
- Battery swap
- Outside the hazardous area only
- Ports and accessories in the zone
- USB-A, USB-C, audio output, RJ45 and DC-in only in safe areas (certificate). Other port, SD and SIM operations only when the atmosphere is shown to be absent.
- Certified accessories
- Certificate names only the manufacturer battery pack, the supplied 19 V adapter and cradle (charging outside hazardous areas) and a Kensington lock. Datasheet accessories (desk dock, vehicle dock, vehicle cradle, vehicle charger, hand strap, shoulder strap, carry bag) carry no Ex marking; no keyboard.Unconfirmed, see note 2
- Operating temperature
- −10 °C to +50 °C
Conditions of use
Charge only in the non-hazardous area with the adapter or cradle supplied by the manufacturer. Protect from liquid and dust contamination (pollution degree 2 or better). Connecting or disconnecting external ports, opening the enclosure or replacing the battery pack is permitted only when the explosive atmosphere is shown to be absent. Periodically inspect the interior where condensation can occur. USB-A, USB-C, audio output, RJ45 and DC-in may be used only in safe areas. In hazardous areas the tablet must be secured by a Kensington lock with a suitable string length so it cannot be carried out of a pollution degree 2 area.

FAQ
Common questions
Is the Winmate M101AD-EX certified for Zone 1?
No. It is certified for Zone 2 only, so it can be used in Zone 2 but not in Zone 1.
Can the Winmate M101AD-EX be used in Zone 0?
No. It is not certified for Zone 0. Zone 0 needs equipment with protection level Ga, such as Ex ia intrinsic safety.
What type of explosion protection does the Winmate M101AD-EX use?
It is intrinsically safe: intrinsic safety (Ex ic). Intrinsic safety limits the electrical and thermal energy in the device below the level that could ignite the surrounding atmosphere.
What does T4 mean for the Winmate M101AD-EX?
Its surface stays below 135 °C, so it is suitable for gases that only ignite above that temperature. Check the ignition temperature of the substances on your site.
Can you charge the Winmate M101AD-EX in a hazardous area?
No. The certificate only allows charging outside the hazardous area.
Which ports and accessories can be used with the Winmate M101AD-EX in the hazardous area?
USB-A, USB-C, audio output, RJ45 and DC-in only in safe areas (certificate). Other port, SD and SIM operations only when the atmosphere is shown to be absent.
What operating system does the Winmate M101AD-EX run?
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC. Security updates are expected until at least October 2034.
How much does the Winmate M101AD-EX cost?
Prices for certified hazardous-area tablets depend on volume, configuration and region, so they are on request. Contact us for a price.
